Local MP Jamie Stone has marked the annual Panto Day by tabling a parliamentary motion celebrating pantomime and calling on the UK government to support theatres and entertainers. Mr Stone, the Liberal Democrat culture spokesperson, said: "Year in and year out, panto has been an event that has spread so much joy across the UK. Panto Day has its 10th anniversary on Friday. It has been themed the Year of Love to highlight the joy and happiness that pantomime brings to families.
