You really need to have seen them play live to have a proper opinion on them, or in Jamie Carragher's case, have played alongside them. And so the former Liverpool defender was in a pretty privileged position when the Liverpool Echo's Reds-based Twitter account asked fans to name their favourite Liverpool XIs. Crucially, the tweet said that you had to have seen the players live in order to consider them for selection, but Carragher didn't see that bit. Now given that Carragher was born in 1978 and Liddell - a legendary Scottish winger in the 1950s - played his last game for Liverpool in 1961, then clearly Carragher didn't see him play live. So no, he didn't pick himself, and limited himself to just four players he played with in Gerrard, Alonso, Barnes and Suarez.
