Jamie Benn’s hat trick helps continue trend of proficiency for Stars’ top power play unit

EDMONTON, Alberta — Stars captain Jamie Benn has been a main key of the Dallas power play, as his seven power play points are second on the team. He scored two power play goals on Saturday in the Stars’ 6-2 win over the Oilers, and added a third at even strength for his seventh career hat trick. Benn has been the bumper on the top power play unit, which also has Joe Pavelski at the net-front, Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson on the flanks, with Miro Heiskanen at the point. Seventeen teams in the NHL don’t have nine power play goals total. “If it helps the team win, then that’s good.”Twitter: @MDeFranksFind more Stars coverage from The Dallas Morning News here.
