Jamie Barron is facing a race to be fit for Waterford’s Munster SHC first round clash with Clare on April 19. Barron’s hamstring problem is the latest to hit the Waterford camp after Stephen Bennett missed their final Division 1A round game against Tipperary due to a similar setback. Meanwhile, a knee injury is expected to rule Tipperary’s Seánie Kenneally out of their provincial opener against Cork in Thurles on April 19. McCarthy was taken off at the end of the Kilkenny game but it is understood he only suffered bruising. The Toomevara starlet was carried off with suspected concussion in last October’s shinty game against Scotland in Inverness.
