No modern American president has ever been able to put a sustainable Middle East collective security framework in place. The Middle East continues to be a pivotal point in global competition to this day. Sandwiched in between, President Clinton took a swing (and missed) at the Middle East peace process. The U.S. has demonstrated it’s not backing away from the Middle East. America’s approach to the Middle East has cycled between indifference and perilous action for the better part of 75 years.
