Jamaica's Bolt appears at Rio, let the show begin

In the first of his seven Rio Olympic races - three in the 100 meters, another three in the 200 meters and one in the final of the 4x100 relay - Bolt kicked off a show that will take its final bow this Sunday with the 100 meters final. Johan Blake, the Jamaican who inherited the world title at Daegu in 2011 after Bolt was disqualified for a false start, dominated Heat 6 at 10.11 - which was when Jamaica's king of the sprint came on the track to resounding applause. The only shock was for France's Jimmy Vicaut, ranked third with a time of 9.86, but who got off to a bad start in Heat 4 and came in fourth at 10.19. He now has to wait until the end of Round 1 to find out if he will continue or must pack his bags and head for home. He classified for the 100m semifinals by a hundredth of a second.
