HOUSTON—There are baseball players who could rightly be called sluggers. Then there is where Jackie Bradley Jr. was earlier this year, struggling to keep his batting average above .200 as spring turned to summer. For the Boston Red Sox, his primary purpose was playing the outfield, a job at which he has generally excelled. But in the American League Championship Series, Bradley has morphed into a pint-sized David Ortiz. He is, seemingly out of nowhere, a slugger.
