The victim was identified as Dhiman Chakma, JSS (Shantu Larma group) president of Lakkhichhara upazila unit. According to local sources, three assailants riding on a motorcycle shot Dhiman in the knees, wounding him critically. Manikchhari police station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rashid said Dhiman was sent to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. JSS Central Committee Staff Member Udayan Tripura blamed JSS (Larma group) for the attack.
