JS passes Trade Organisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023


SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 14, 2023 (BSS) - The Trade Organisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 was passed today in Parliament aiming to bring some changes in the existing law. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi moved the bill which was unanimously passed by voice votes in the house with Deputy Speaker Shamsul Huq Tuku in the chair. Earlier, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun in absence of the commerce minister placed the bill in the Jatiya Sangsad. As per the proposed law, in case of any problem to hold the election, the existing committee of any trade organization can continue its operation for one year after expiry of its tenure in line with the draft law. But now the committee can run operations for six months after the expiry of its tenure in such circumstances as per the existing law.
