Leon Draisaitl could not only score 50 goals this season, he could win the Rocket Richard Trophy as the top goal scorer in the NHL. Draisaitl scored three in the third period against L.A. and another in the first five minutes Thursday against the Stars in what turned out to be a 3-2 shootout loss. Draisaitl scored his 47th goal of the year to produce his 100th point and give the Oilers two 100-point players for the first time since 1988-89. With his dazzling goal, McDavid became the first Oiler since Jari Kurri in 1988-89 and 1989-90 to manufacture back-to-back 40-goal seasons. At the start of the season, on the basis of McDavid’s 41 goals last year, I predicted a 50-goal Rocket Richard Trophy season for McDavid, not Draisaitl.
