JONES: Brier could feature up to three teams from Alberta

Alberta could have not one, not two but THREE teams in the Feb. 29-March 8 Brier in Kingston. Four teams with 4-1 records made it to the playoffs here Saturday — Edmonton’s Karsten Surmay, Appelman and Bottcher as well as Aaron Sluchinski of Airdrie. Bottcher defeated Sluchinski 8-4 in the game between the two second place teams in the round robin pools. It’s a last chance game between the top two teams in the CRTS points standings that did not win their provincial titles. That dropped Bottcher into the playoff game featuring the two second place teams from the two six-team pools.
