JKUAT to build Sh6 billion institute for chronic diseasesJKUAT is set to establish a Non-Communicable Diseases InstituteJomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is set to establish a Sh6 billion institute dedicated to chronic diseases.The Non-Communicable Diseases Institute will serve both Kenya and her neighbours as it will focus on reducing the cost of treating such diseases as envisioned in the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) plan. This will enable us to support the realisation of Kenya’s priority targets regarding universal healthcare for our populations,” she said. The establishment of the specialised institute will be supported by the government of Japan through JICA and the Japan-based Association of African Economy and Development (AFRECO). The University has already set aside 100 acres where the facility will be constructed.
