Picture by Prem SinghNew Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has expressed displeasure at the Centre's plan to appoint a governor with an army background to succeed the incumbent N.N. There are some retired army generals, including a former army chief. But Mehbooba has expressed her displeasure at this to senior BJP ministers, including Union home minister Rajnath Singh. "The chief minister has made it clear that any such move will further alienate people in the Valley and complicate things," a senior home ministry official said. Mehbooba had met Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday and is learnt to have said the armed forces were seen by people in the Valley as "oppressors".
