As I watched Vance on that Milwaukee stage sell the American dream to me and the thousands watching, for a moment, I bought it. I’m not the only Latine immigrant who still believes in the American dream. But here are some reasons why Trump-Vance’s version of the American Dream doesn’t benefit Latines, especially if you are an immigrant, documented or not. Acceptance into my program meant that I had security, health care and a future to pursue my version of the American dream. Trump and Vance’s version of the American dream doesn’t make space for Latines.
