"All hope is gone," Janet Sacrey, the Pacquet town clerk, told CBC News by 9 a.m., as photos showed the flames spreading through the roof of the building. When she looked out the window, Sacrey saw smoke billowing out from the United Church. The United Church in Pacquet caught fire early Tuesday morning. Firefighters spray water on the flames billowing through the windows and the side wall of the United Church in Pacquet. Water can be seen coming from the fire trucks at the scene of the church fire in Pacquet early Tuesday morning.
