Before everyone clinks champagne glasses heralding the new decade, let’s get one thing clear about 2020: the only correct way to say it is twenty-twenty, not two thousand and twenty. In fact, to all you miscreants who say two thousand and twenty, make it your New Year resolution to not. Instead, put some respect on the first year of the new decade by prioritizing the proper way to say it. We made an adjustment: it’s two thousand and five, and saying two thousand five is also acceptable. When saying early decades of centuries past, we say nineteen eighteen, eighteen eighteen, seventeen eighteen, and so on.
