Italy to Finance Study of Massawa-Addis Ababa Railway ProjectJanuary 21, 2019 (Ezega.com) - Italy has agreed to finance the first phase of study of the planned railway line project linking the Eritrean port of Massawa with the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. In a meeting in Rome, the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed thanked his Italian counterpart, Giuseppe Conte, for all the assistance. “I had a productive discussion with international agencies and the Government of Italy,” said Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed. The Ethiopian Prime Minister also called for enhanced cooperation between Ethiopia and Italy in the areas of development, peace, and tourism. Both the President and Prime Minister recounted the historical relationship between Ethiopia and Italy and the continued cooperation that followed, according to Office of the Prime Minister.
