Italian town sells homes for just 90p - and you can get £22,000 to refurbish one

The sunsoaked village of Troina in Sicily, Italy is also offering buyers up to £22,000 to renovate the houses in a bid to restore the dwindling population. Troina, once dubbed the 'Norman capital of Sicily,' is the latest Italian town to jump on the trend of selling super cheap homes to entice city-dwellers back to rural areas. Dubbed the ‘Balcony of Sicily’, Troina boasts incredible panoramic views from its spot nestled in the mountains. The homes are hidden away in 4,000 hectares of forest, with peaceful paths perfect for strolls and horseriding. Energy efficient works are also being encouraged by a £8,770 (€10,000) grant offered to works that are eco-friendly.
