Italian schools to stay open through summer holidays

Italian schools are set to stay open during the summer holidays to allow children to catch up with their education and social interaction. The country is investing over £440 million into keeping schools open into the summer holidays, with lessons that will be focused on sport, photography and the arts. The summer programme will be arts focused and children will also be taken to theaters and cinemas as part of their education. Fourteen of the country's 20 regions have been designated yellow zones, meaning there is a relatively low risk from COVID. In the yellow zones, coffee bars and restaurants are now allowed to serve customers outdoors after a near-total shutdown of about six weeks.
