The government has announced further support for autonomous vehicles. We are embracing the opportunity presented by driverless cars to lower accident rates and transform how we think of urban road networks. Yet with all the talk about autonomous cars and the government announcing investment in this technology, we are potentially underplaying another area of transportation that has the potential to deliver tangible benefits for its users. There are massive capacity issues on the Great Eastern Main Line which runs through Colchester and which thousands of my constituents use to travel to work every day.
