City officials say the park is a sacred place where people come to pray for the victims. Game developer Niantic met a city request to delete them by last weekend, when a solemn annual ceremony was held to mark the anniversary of the atomic bombing that killed 140,000 people in the final days of World War II. An official of the western Japanese city said Monday that the developer of the popular “Pokemon Go’’ smartphone game had removed the creatures and sites that had drawn crowds of players to the park.
