On June 7, it announced the registration of five new political parties, bringing the number of parties to 46. On September 10, 2017, a Federal High Court in Abuja equally dismissed the application by Senator Dino Melaye challenging moves by INEC to effect his recall. Justice Dimgba ruled that the recall process is a political question, which is beyond the court to deal with.
