Israel-Gaza war: Top UN official resigns over Palestinian ‘genocide’, calls for ‘settler-colonial project dismantling'

Craig Mokhiber, a top-ranking official of the United Nations (UN), has resigned as he called for the dismantling of the “deeply racist, settler-colonial project" while citing “genocide" of the Palestinian civilians as Israel continues to batter Gaza. Craig Mokhiber also alleged that the United States, United Kingdom and much of Europe were “wholly complicit in the horrific assault" and that the UN has failed to prevent the genocide of civilians. “The current wholesale slaughter of the Palestinian people, rooted in an ethno-nationalist colonial-settler ideology, in continuation of decades of their systematic persecution and purging, based entirely upon their status as Arabs … leaves no room for doubt," Craig Mokhiber said. In his resignation letter, Craig Mokhiber said, “Once again we are seeing a genocide unfolding before our eyes and the organization we serve appears powerless to stop it."
