BNP backed DSCC mayoral candidate Ishraque Hossain campaigned in the area on Tuesday, and in the adjoining wards 73 and 75, covering Nasirabad, Dakshingaon, Nandipara, and Sabujbagh of Khilgaon. Ishraque started campaigning from Nasirabad, with BNP central leader Khairul Kabir Khokon and Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas present, around 11am on Tuesday. They also held a brief rally in Nasirabad’s Trimohoni area, where Ishraque not only sought votes, but also demanded the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia who is now in jail for a graft case. The BNP backed candidate distributed leaflets and talked to voters regarding the problems of water stagnation, poor sewerage management, and scarcity of safe water in summer in these areas. BNP leaders and activists were seen chanting slogans demanding Khaleda’s immediate release.
