Rolls-Royce chiefs believe the all-electric ‘Spirit of Innovation’ aircraft is the world’s fastest all-electric plane, and set three new world records. Rolls-Royce says it has broken the record for the fastest all-electric aircraft. All the data has been submitted to the World Air Sports Federation who control and certify world aeronautical and astronautical records. Earlier this month, New Zealand's first electric powered aircraft took off from Omaka airfield in Blenheim and headed across the Cook Strait. The two-seater Pipistrel Alpha Electro completed the world's longest flight to date over open water by a pure electric plane.
