Entrepreneurs across the country are keeping a weather eye on Amazon, Alibaba and Google. “If Google and Amazon were investing in Indian startups without strings attached, that would be a good thing. “The big companies form a critical piece of this ecosystem,” says Siddharth Ladsariya, an angel investor in about 100 startups. Over the past three years, there has been a clear-out in the market, as investors backed out of discount-driven businesses. “Entrepreneurs who want to take on Amazon with metoo business models have no chance now,” he says.
