The Federal Government has not said how it will set up cattle colonies and the shape it will take. Cattle colonies are not ranches. Whether the creation of cattle colonies would curb the clashes between farmers and pastoralists depends on the number of pastoralists that the colonies would be able to accommodate. It is not right to set up cattle colonies. Cattle routes have been blocked, we use to have the Safana grazing reserve in Katsina, in Kaduna, we had the Kachia grazing reserve, in Niger, we had the Kantagora grazing reserve, in Borno we had the Bama grazing reserve, in Bauchi we had the Wawa grazing reserve; where are they today?
