Is the world ready for another Mel Gibson movie? The 60-year-old two-time Oscar winner (for directing and producing Braveheart) returns to theatres this week with Hacksaw Ridge, his first film as a director since 2006’s Apocalypto. Hacksaw Ridge received a 10-minute standing ovation at its Venice Film Festival premiere in September. The Hollywood Film Awards will give Gibson its directing prize at a November 6 gala, two days after the film opens. As part of his reintroduction to polite society, Gibson presented a prize at the Golden Globes last year.
