IF YOU WERE to put $80,000 in my hands and ask me to acquire the maximal camper van for the money, I might not come back with a 2020 Mercedes-Benz Metris Getaway, if I came back at all. I know, to a lot of claustrophobic Manhattanites, this garage-able, half-tent/half-minivan must look like the turnkey solution, a perfect escape from New York. MB recently changed the name from “Weekender” to “Getaway”; they might as well have called it Snake Plissken.
