For 2020, my trendsightings range from the solution-oriented (micromobility, scripting third acts, plant-to-plate) to the fear-based (bunker mentality, raising the drawbridge), but a common thread runs through most: chaos as the new normal. We’re searching for anything that can help us in some small way to manage—and constrain—the chaos. And as I explore in my trends report, sales of security equipment are booming. For marketers, a world fueled by chaos and existential threats brings with it all sorts of questions. Chaos will only continue to be the new normal if we don’t fight back.
