Ireland’s Paul and Gary O’Donovan won a silver medal for rowing at Rio 2016 on Friday, but they deserve gold for this hilarious interview. Footage of the brothers openly chatting to Ireland’s national broadcaster RTE about their urine tests, “podium pants” and how they plan to celebrate their achievement has quickly gone viral. Their television appearance begins with them asking the station’s anchors, via a live satellite feed from Brazil, “How are tings?” and “What’s the craic?”“We’re in Rio, the background might look superimposed but it’s very real,” jokes Gary O’Donovan, before his brother Paul goes into possibly a little bit too much detail about his doping test. The brothers’ performances, on and off the water, has set social media alight, with some Twitter users hailing them as “Ireland’s gift to the world.”
