Irish Embassy pub on Bishop Street is closed and assessing water damage after a five-alarm fire broke out in the apartments above early Saturday morning. Irish Embassy's management posted a message on its Facebook page saying that they are still in shock following the incident. About 120 firefighters worked for hours to control the flames, which started around 5:20 a.m. on the third floor of the building. While not registered as a heritage building, the building at 1234 Bishop Street was constructed in 1885. Open seven days a week, the bar is popular among students and sports fans bound for the nearby Bell Centre.
