One of the men, Hameed Khalid Darweesh , had worked for the U.S. government for 10 years, including as an interpreter. At least two Iraqis with ties to U.S. operations overseas were detained late Friday at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. He had been detained around 6 p.m. on Friday, Darweesh said in a press conference at JFK following his release on Saturday.
