He was treated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital. He is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest on the way to hospital after sustaining a head injury. The 48-year-old was 14th in the time-trial on Wednesday and Iran’s sole cyclist at the Rio Games. Britain’s Sarah Storey, meanwhile, claimed her 14th Paralympic gold, and third at Rio, when she won the women’s C4-5 road race.
