Iran Slows Buildup of Near Weapons-grade Enriched Uranium, Wall Street Journal Reports

Iran has significantly slowed the pace at which it is accumulating near weapons-grade enriched uranium and has diluted some of its stockpile, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday citing people familiar with the matter. Last month, Haaretz's Amos Harel reported on an unwritten deal between the Biden administration and Iran, a significant portion of which had already been implemented. Washington, for its part, has withdrawn its opposition to the release of Iranian assets worth $20 billion in banks across several countries. Iran acknowledged that the deal involved $6 billion to $7 billion that were frozen as a result of sanctions. The U.N. mission said the money would be transferred to Qatar before being sent on to Iran if the agreement goes through.
