The Independent Policing and Oversight Authority has condemned the shooting to death of a form three student on Sunday by police officers at Hindi Town in Lamu. In a statement on Monday, Ipoa chairperson Ann Makori said the authority has dispatched a Rapid Response Team to look into circumstances leading to the fatal shooting of the student. Makori said they have also dispatched a team to monitor police conduct during the management of crowds during demonstrations on Sunday. "The Authority also wishes all officers injured in the line of duty a quick restoration to health," Makori said. On Sunday, two Kenya Defence Forces officers were killed as they responded to an attack on a General Service Unit team in Lamu.
