KUALA LUMPUR: An investment company director was jailed for four years for cheating her former schoolmate of RM500,000 over a non-existent contract for the supply of army uniform. Sessions Court judge Hasbullah Adam ordered the jail term to run from Feb 25, the day Shamsuzy was arrested. "Under Section 289 of the Criminal Procedure Code, you are lucky that you are spared from being whipped," he said. Shamsuzy told Norhemira that she had insufficient capital to pay the factory making the uniform. It was established that the firm was registered under Shamsuzy's name and the Defence Ministry had confirmed that the company had not been given the contract.
