One, we do not recommend investing in equity mutual funds for a short period. You should invest in equity mutual funds, including sectoral funds like infrastructure, banking, etc, only if you have a long investment horizon of five to seven years. Sector funds are meant for investors with good knowledge about the particular sector. In fact, infrastructure sector revived after the new government assumed charge. Also, do not invest more than 10-15 per cent of your total investments in sector funds.
