Armed police sealed off Matarikoriko Rd near Waitara in Taranaki following the incident on Tuesday, May 19. Investigations into a police shooting which killed a Taranaki man remain ongoing. On May 19, Alan Neville Rowe was shot dead by police on Mamaku Rd, off State Highway 3, near Waitara. On Monday, a police spokesperson said the internal investigation considering the fatal shooting of Rowe was ongoing.
