Investigation begins into 3-alarm townhouse fire near Queen, Sumach

An investigation is beginning into a three-alarm blaze at a two-story townhouse in the city's Corktown neighbourhood that broke out on Thursday evening around 8:30 p.m. The fire shut down Queen Street East in both directions from Power Street to River Street. Buildings near the townhouse were cleared by crews, with residents allowed to return to their homes at about midnight, Rathushniak added. The presence of the fire truck will likely mean one lane on Queen Street East remains closed in that area, said Ratushniak. The Fire Marshall's Office will also be participating in the investigation due to the severity of the damage to the building.
