After the victim read her statement, which was at times directed at Mcdonald, Judge Farnan invited him to respond. Judge Farnan also issued a protection order. Photographs of the victim taken afterward showed "significant" bruising and swelling to her face, arms, and stomach, Judge Farnan said. He had been expected to stay in a room off the side of her house, she told the court.
