Invercargill property owner Gaire Thompson says he is in talks with retail tenants to fill a Dee St building when it is vacated in May, 2022. A competing Invercargill property owner says he is surprised by the reported level of tenant interest in the multi-million dollar city block development that's being built. Included in Thompson’s stable of properties in Invercargill is the Dee St building which currently houses the Farmers department store. He said he was working closely with “two decent-sized” retail tenants to move into the bottom floor of the building. All three prospective tenants he was in talks with were currently not operating in Invercargill, Thompson said.
