A rare Invercargill coin from 1863 is for sale, with a price tag of $400. Esler said the Beaven penny was in the middle of that range. Under the Ebay listing, the coin's seller describes the coin as having "light graffiti scratches on [the] obverse field". Esler said he had a 2010 coin catalogue, which valued the Beaven penny at $110 in used condition and $500 in "very fine" condition.
