Invercargill caught in a Tim warpsupplied Tim Shadbolt. Invercargill voters have yet again returned the remarkable Tim Shadbolt for an eighth consecutive term as their mayor. Shadbolt's support base among Invercargill voters has resisted, to an extraordinary extent, the corrosions of time and familiarity. Most notably, on election-day figures, this includes the dropping of a veteran with an even longer term in Invercargill than Shadbolt. Toni Biddle, Alex Crackett and former Labour Party list MP Lesley Soper join fellow newcomer Allan Arnold among council ranks, the fourth vacancy having come from Alan Dennis' decision not to stand again.
