Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said the controversial section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act will be dropped from the latest Digital Security Act. The Digital Security Act 2017 will be placed at the upcoming winter session of parliament, but the Act will be sent to the Cabinet for approval first. The minister made the announcement following a review meeting on the Digital Security Act at the Law Ministry conference room on Wednesday. “The new Act will not contain section 57 of the ICT Act. Moreover, we have proposed for the annulment of section 54, 55, 56 and 66 in the Digital Security Act,” Inu said.
