A first-year university student has been charged with making an intimate visual recording of another student at his residential college. Alexander George Marshall (18) was dealt with by a Dunedin District Court registrar yesterday, after spending the night in a police cell. A University of Otago spokeswoman said Marshall was ''no longer at the residential college'' and the victim was being supported by the college community. The Crimes Act defines an intimate visual recording as any recording of an image or video taken of a person, who is naked or partially undressed or engaged in sexual activity, showering or toileting, without their consent. The university spokeswoman said anyone with information about the incident should contact the police.
