International Criminal Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Russia President Vladimir Putin -- WSJ


By Daniel MichaelsBRUSSELS--The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and another senior Russian official accused of war crimes, a historic move that widens the conflict from the battlefield to the courtroom. It marks the first time a leader of a country with a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council has ever been called for trial before the court. "There are reasonable grounds to believe that Mr. Putin bears individual criminal responsibility" for the alleged crimes, the court said in a statement Friday. ET because it incorrectly said the International Criminal Court was part of the United Nations. The International Criminal Court is an intergovernmental organization.
