Security personnel cordon off an area in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir after militants shot at and injured a policeman. Soon after his reached Jammu, Mr. Sharma met BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh “to initiate and carry forward dialogue with elected representatives and other organisations.” A party leader said several “J&K-centric issues” were discussed. Mr. Sharma will stay in Jammu for two days. Earlier in Srinagar, Mr. Sharma met senior Congress leader Saifuddin Soz. There is a great trust deficit between the Union of India and Kashmir,” Mr. Soz said.
