(PTI) Srinagar, June 16: Two young civilians were shot dead today as the security forces foiled a pro-independence mob's attempts to disrupt an anti-militancy operation in a south Kashmir village, and killed the two rebels too. A group of pro-independence protesters threw stones at the forces and chanted slogans as they tried to march towards the site. The forces fired at them, killing Mohammad Ashraf, 22, and injuring several people. It made another attempt to reach the encounter site, prompting another round of firing by the forces, which killed Ehsan Dar. Yesterday, a civilian was killed when the security forces fired on a mob that was raining stones on their convoy at Rangerth on Srinagar's outskirts.
