Intense hailstorm rattles Nelson regionADAM GARSIDE A sudden, intense hailstorm has hit the Nelson region. A long, rolling clap of thunder was followed by an short but sharp hailstorm that showered the Nelson and Tasman region with shards of ice on Friday afternoon. Rimu Wine Bar owner Patrick Stowe said the intense storm lasted about 10 minutes. He said Dominion Rd and Bronte Rd in Mapua had been hit "reasonably bad". Easton said that it won't be until the fruit develops that they'll see if there's any damage, bruising or deformity caused by the hail storm.
